Hello!
Here is a compilation of different resources that will help you in your preparation for the PET Exam. Please make the most of this time at home to prepare the three components you can work on individually: Listening, Reading, and Writing. We will have time to continue working on the Speaking component when school life returns to normal!
Past Paper Practise Links
- An entire sample paper (All Four Components: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) published on the Official Cambridge English website: https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/Images/565480-b1-preliminary-schools-2020-sample-tests.zip
I strongly encourage you to attempt all these past papers. You'll be able to mark the Reading and Listening papers yourselves (Marking Schemes are also available in the ZIP file). And you're more than welcome to email me (carla.lane@iessoto.com) the Writing paper if you'd like for your essays to be corrected. If you do so, it would be great if you could do it in the format of a Google Docs - that way it'll be a lot easier to mark and give you feedback :)
- Reading Practise
https://www.flo-joe.co.uk/preliminaryenglish/pet-reading-practice-tests.htm
You will find 1 Reading Test linked on this website. You'll be able to correct these exercises yourselves. You can either print the paper copies or do this test online, whatever you prefer.
The Reading section has six components:
1. Three-Option Multiple Choice
2. Matching
3. Four-Option Multiple Choice
4. Gapped Text
5. Four-Option Multiple Choice Cloze
6. Open Cloze
- Writing Practise
https://www.flo-joe.co.uk/preliminaryenglish/pet-writing-practice-tests.htm
You will find three examples: Email, Article and Story. You should practise how to write these three types of texts.
The Writing section has two components:
1. Email
2. Article or Story
Hope you find these resources useful. Have a lovely day!
Carla
