The strongest typhoon of the year has made its landing in my country, the Philippines. In one the articles I've read, tens of thousands of Filipinos evacuated as the supertyphoon landed in their areas.
This has been the worst case for thousands of my countrymen, to be homeless in midst of a pandemic with an incompetent government. A lot of my friends have been tweeting on twitter looking for the president who didn't even organize an emergency briefing or showed his face in public when the Filipinos need him the most. One of the most affected areas, Catanduanes, were not reached by media, signal was cutoff so even their families couldn´ t even contact them. As of November 2, 2020, 5 people were dead and 36 injured, while tens of thousands ended up homeless. Here's the only English news coverage I have found on Youtube.
My family is safe as they don't live near the affected areas but I feel so bad for my fellow Filipinos who had to go through this in the middle of a pandemic and the country is not even responding well to these important problems. Also, one of the major news media channels was previously shut down for some reason, which is why it's harder for most Filipinos to have reliable news now because this channel would normally cover even the most unreachable and dangerous places in the country times of such disaster.
