VoiceThread: a Tool for Presentations (by Carla)

Hello!

I want to share this tool with you today. VoiceThread (https://voicethread.com) is a website that allows you to add your voice to Presentations. I think this tool is especially useful for teachers, but students may also want to use it if they need to record themselves explaining a presentation.

The first step is creating an account on VoiceThread, so use your school email address. I recommend that you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your explorer (in my case, I have found that Safari doesn't work well).

The second step is uploading your presentation onto the platform. This can be a presentation in PDF (.pdf) or a PowerPoint (.ppoint) format.

The third step is recording your VoiceThread presentation. The way it works is on an individual slide basis. You record your voice on each slide. You can do it in a single recording or several shorter ones (there is no limit). Perhaps if you have different aspects to cover on a slide, you want to break it up into shorter explanations. That way, if you make a mistake, you can simply record yourself again!

Here are a couple of VoiceThread tutorials to help you:

The fourth step is sharing your presentation. When your presentation is ready, the website will create a unique hyperlink for your presentation. You can choose the privacy settings and sharing settings of your presentation. Then, you simply have to share your link with your desired audience!

If you have any doubts, there are many tutorial videos on VoiceThread's website and on YouTube you can watch :)

I hope this tool will be useful!

Best wishes,

Carla
