What time is it? (Daisy)

- for all levels

Telling the time can be really confusing, even for me! When somebody asks what time is it, it feels like you have to do math quickly (which most of you might hate). So here's a quick tip to help you tell the time.

As you probably already know, the clock's short hand indicates the hour, while the long hand indicates minutes. This is the basic math for a clock's minutes (long hand): 3 = 15 minutes (quarter past) 6 = 30 minutes (half past) 9 = 45 minutes (quarter to) 12 = 60 minutes/1hr (o'clock)

HOW TO TELL THE TIME (Past vs To, Quarter, Half)

In telling the time, we use two words: past and to. Past means after and is used in the first half hour (1-6) and to means before and is used in the remaining half hour (7-11. When the long hand points exactly in 12, we read it as o'clock. We also use the words quarter and half. There's 60 minutes in an hour, which means that quarter is 15 minutes and half is 30 minutes.

For example:

12:00 - twelve o'clock 3:30 - half past three (this means that 30 minutes has passed after 3 o'clock) 2:15 - quarter past two (this means 15 minutes has passed after 2 o'clock) 2:45 - quarter to three (this means there's still 15 minutes before 3 o'clock)

Each number indicates five minutes. In the first half, we use past and in the remaining half, we use to. For example: 7:10 - ten past seven (which means 10 min has passed after 7 o'clock) 10:07 - seven past ten (7 mins has passed after 10 o'clock) 5:35 - twenty-five to six (which means there's 25 more minutes before 6 o'clock) 11:50 - ten to twelve (10 more minutes before 12 o'clock)

Now let's test if you have understood everything. Look at the photo below and try to grasp the concept fully before playing the game.

The goal of this game is to help the cat cross the bridge. To do that, you have to get all the answers correct. One wrong answer and the cat will fall. Before you start the game, the display time is 9:00 (nine o'clock). You can change the time by clicking the arrows and review before you play. If you answer too slow, you will get no point but you can still continue crossing the bridge. Screenshot your score after if you were successful in helping the cat and post it in the comment section!

Good luck!

I liked it because through this exercise you can learn or know what the hours are and is more entertaining to do it through games.

The game is very cool because it gives you fun and this game is for people who find it harder to practice the hours.
